A Few of my Drawings and Paintings

I thought I’d take the time to share some of my favourite drawings and paintings with you. Under each piece I’ve written about the work.

Ava – by Andrew G Rose

Ava strikes a pose and I can’t keep my eyes off her. I decide to draw bold lines with ink to bring out the boldness of her beauty.

Note: You can follow Ava on Instagram (@ava_twitch). This was a Zoom edition of Abbotsford Life Drawing (@abbotsfordlifedrawing on insta).

Guy in the Tropics – by Andrew G Rose

A gorgeous man from Cairns, in Queensland’s tropical north. He is stunned because he hasn’t felt this way before. The rich foliage enters the picture along with the crushing humidity. He starts to resemble what he desires.

Cheeky American – by Andrew G Rose

That perfect peach. I just want to grab it. Knead it. Tease it. He shows it off, but underneath there is a lovely man. A man who deserves to be loved as much as any other. But look at that peach!

Alien Love – by Andrew G Rose

She arrives on Earth, this mesmerising Martian. Is her blood blue? She looks like she could excite me and devour me all at once. She’ll chew me up and spit me out.

Note: You can follow Pistolina on Instagram (@pistolina_burlesque). This was a session at Hares & Hyenas for Gay Life Drawing (@gaylifedrawingmelb on insta).

What are you looking at? – by Andrew G Rose

Don’t look at me. I could stare you into your own grave. But have a look. I’m fabulous. You can’t look away can you? The combination of ink and pastel shading is one my signature styles. It’s used to bring out the bold lines that shape the character. The coloured pastel brings this bitch to life. Still looking? Of course you fucking are!

Note: You can follow Simple on Instagram (@simplethedragqween). This was drawn at Gay Life Drawing (@gaylifedrawingmelb) for an ‘Almodovar’ theme.

Infidelity – by Andrew G Rose

3 Manhattans later, this couple poses before me. They are in love, but sadly disconnected. Or is that my own emotions? When infidelity strikes your relationship, the bond is ripped apart. You want to stay close, but your soul is destroyed.

Note: This was drawn at Abbotsford Life Drawing (@abbotsfordlifedrawing). The models in this piece are not connected with the meaning of the work. That is my meaning as the artist.

Bella – by Andrew G Rose

Bella resides on my wall at home. The green tones creep in because I envy her. Bella is so inspiring to watch as she casts her beauty on all of us. I am convinced she is a witch. She looks towards to the allure of the burlesque, where her true passion lies.

Note: You can follow Bella on Instagram (@belladejac). This piece was completed over 2 weeks inspired from one of my sketches at Gay Life Drawing (@gaylifedrawingmelb).

Lonely Pony – by Andrew G Rose

Adult film star Max Arion is nicknamed the pony because of his enormous phallus. But one night he showed up disheveled, scattered, his mind somewhere else. The above painting is the completion of a drawing on canvas paper. At first I capture his hopelessly depressed body, but then I look closer and see his lonely expression.

Note: Max can be followed on Instagram (@maxxpony). The initial drawing was done at Abbotsford Life Drawing (@abbotsfordlifedrawing).

Janet – by Andrew G Rose

After a jump to the left and a step to the right, Janet is soaking wet from her queer romp in a Swimming Pool. The mood is flattened as the evening calls to a close and the guests return to Transsexual Transylvania!

Note: Model Bronte (@brontesaurussex) portrays this perfectly at Gay Life Drawing’s ‘Rocky Horror’ themed session. This drawing is significant as it marks my reintroduction to art after almost sixteen years.

Art is an important part of my life. It helps me balance my emotions and helps me express what I see in front of me. Tell me what your emotional centre is.

The Phoenix is a symbol of strength and renewal. My tattoo is to remind me to shine as bright as flames flying through the air, and to remember that no matter how bad things get, I will rise from the darkness transformed and better.
